Meet Nathaniel Martindale, a Computer Science senior at Grand View University and one of our dedicated Tech Mentorship interns. Nathaniel joined Pi515 to give younger students the coding opportunities he wished he had, and discovered a passion for teaching along the way. His experience at Principal has expanded his career curiosity while allowing him to inspire the next generation of tech leaders.

At Pi515, our Tech Mentorship Program is powered by dedicated college students who are eager to support and guide the next generation of young technologists. Today, we’re spotlighting one of our incredible interns, Nathaniel Martindale, a senior at Grand View University studying Computer Science.
Nathaniel brings curiosity, patience, and a genuine desire to give back — qualities that shine through in every session he leads at Principal Financial Group, where our Tech Mentorship Program is hosted.
For Nathaniel, becoming a mentor was a chance to offer students the support he wishes he had growing up.
“I saw an opportunity to help younger kids learn coding languages, and it’s something that I wish I had available to me when I was younger, so I was more than happy to give back.”
Serving at Principal has given Nathaniel a window into real careers in tech, and opened doors for the kind of conversations that help young professionals grow.
“I love how it is connected to Principal and I am able to meet people who do jobs that I could possibly venture into and ask questions I never could ask others before.”
Through mentoring, Nathaniel has discovered a passion he didn’t expect: teaching.
“I have learned that helping the younger generation and teaching them is very fun and intriguing, and I love it!”
When he’s not working with students or diving into code, Nathaniel has many hobbies that keep him active and inspired.
“I love to go golf and I have been doing martial arts for over 15 years now, so that’s been a staple in my life as well. I also love to play games and watch shows and movies.”
“An intriguing experience.”
Nathaniel encourages anyone interested in both giving back and leveling up their technical skills to join.
“If you are looking to give back to the younger generation while also growing your own coding skills, then Pi515 is the way to go.”
We are so grateful to have Nathaniel as part of our Tech Mentorship Team!
