Meet Karin Brun, an IT major at Grand View University and intern in our Tech Mentorship program with Principal. Passionate about coding and helping others, Karin says Pi515 has pushed her to grow, step outside her comfort zone, and do work that feels truly meaningful.

Today, we’re highlighting Karin Brun, a driven Information Technology major at Grand View University, and one of our outstanding interns through our Tech Mentorship Program with Principal Financial Group.

Why She Joined Pi515

For Karin, the decision to intern with Pi515 came naturally.

“I am very passionate about coding and helping others. So being able to combine the two was perfect!”

Her Favorite Part of Interning

Karin finds meaning in knowing her work makes an impact.

“My favorite part of interning so far is feeling like I am doing something worthwhile.”

Through mentoring students in Pi515’s programs, she sees the value of her contributions firsthand, inspiring youth while growing as a future leader in tech.

What She’s Learned

Every experience with Pi515 challenges interns to stretch their skills and perspectives. Karin shares,

“I’ve learned how to challenge myself more and step out of my comfort zone.”

Outside of Pi515

Beyond her studies and mentorship, Karin embraces creativity and fun.

“I love reading and watching movies. I like playing video games with friends and listening to music.”

Her balance of curiosity and passion shows how diverse interests can fuel innovation.

How She Describes Her Pi515 Experience

When asked to summarize her time with Pi515, Karin chose three words:

“Collaborative, Impactful, Rewarding.”

Those words perfectly capture what makes the Tech Mentorship Program so special — a shared space of learning, teamwork, and community.

Her Advice for Future Interns

Karin encourages any student considering Pi515 to take the leap:

“Go for it, especially if you feel nervous about doing something out of your comfort zone.”
